One year at The Center

This week, the original Ticket Office Staff, or at least, the ones who are still there, turn a year old. How time flies!!

I remember when I got the call to come in for my final interview. I was about to board SpaceMountain in Disneyland. I remember getting off the rollercoaster, and rapidly dialing my future manager’s number to tell her that yes, I’d come in for my final interview.

We’ve been through a lot, and I’m happy to report that I truly do enjoy working there. The people, the place, the shows, the atmosphere, the patrons…they are all wonderful.

As we get ready to announce our 2nd Season, I look forward to doing this again, year after year.

Missions Conference 2008

I just found out the dates for our Yearly Missions Conference here in Modesto, CA

September 26th, 27th, 28th, 2008

What a busy week it will be, with our Choir joining forces with the Bay Area Choirs, and singing together.
I’m looking forward to it.

The only downside?

My birthday is on September 27th.  (I’ll be turning 25)
So i can forget about celebrating my birthday on my birthday.
Also, that will be the one year anniversary of The Gallo Center opening.
Horray for that too.

Busy Morning… AMGEN Event at Work

Well, I knew it was going to be a busy day at work. We had an Amgen event this morning, and I’d never seen anything like it. If you don’t know what that is, (don’t worry; I didn’t either) its a national bicycle race. I believe they are doing a tour of california, and we where lucky enough to have them stop at Modesto. They rode in yesterday from Sacramento, and today, they are headed on over to San Jose.

AMGEN Race

Well, the start line was located right in front of where I work, which of course meant we had loads and loads of people here early in the morning. Still, foolishly didn’t think it was going to be a big deal, and i left my house at around 9:00am, thinking i had plenty of time to get to work by 9:45am. I even stopped for a Starbucks.

Bad Idea.

9th street was a total mess. All the streets leading to I street where closed, and they had police officers manually letting the cars pass at intersections. I finally had to drive off 9th Street, and park in the English Church’s parking lot on 7th street.

I finally made it to work, with 3 minutes left to clock in. Whew!!
Still, after i clocked in, I was asked to go outside and take some pictures of the race, which was awesome.
its amazing how much these athletes can do.

Well, they are around Patterson right now. There is a huge JumboThron outside the Center, and i can see them from my desk. I hope they all make it to San Jose without any rain.

I’ll try to post some of the pictures i took of the event later, when i figure out how to do so.
In the meantime, i better get back to work, and wait for the crowds to go down, so i can go get my car.
